Trivia: There’s a White-Tailed Tropic Bird or widely known as the Bermuda Longtail bird behind Petra and according to legend… if a longtail flew and screeched over an unmarried woman, she would become pregnant soon. She’s already married at that time and got pregnant a month later! ོ
Where are your favorite places to take photos?
I’m a sucker for a white/pink sand beach with crystal turquoise water, but my favorites have to be Orient Bay in St. Martin and Horseshoe Bay Beach in Bermuda! But I also enjoy driving around on vacation and finding unique fun sites to shoot at.
Do you have a story from your most memorable photoshoot?
Speaking of driving around and finding fun locations, “Valley of the Beautiful Women” has a memorable little story. Eger, Hungary is this beautiful old town about two hours east of Budapest, home to some of the most famous Hungarian vineyards. The vineyard areas are known as “Valley of the Beautiful Women,” and I knew I wanted to take advantage of that to shoot a set in.
So we woke up one morning very early and were thrilled to have this gorgeous, magical coating of snow and ice on everything.
We literally got into our car and just drove around till we found a vineyard with an open fence, got out, and started shooting.
I was actually worried the farmer would see us and get upset, but my husband said, “It’s so early, no one is around!” He had barely finished saying this when the farmer drove up behind us in his pickup truck.
As I stood there, mostly naked, wearing nothing but a sexy bikini, scarf, hat, and boots, I braced myself to get yelled at in Hungarian—a language I can’t begin to understand—but instead he just smiled, honked, gave us a thumbs-up, and drove off.
What’s your favorite bikini?
I think I own over a hundred WW/MM brand bikinis, so picking one is incredibly difficult.
People ask me this question often, and it usually changes with my mood. I’m a big fan of plants, and even though I’m not a huge frills kind of girl, I really love my Limonada (Recipe for Limonada) and Paradise Found (sets forthcoming!). They’re everything you’d want in a bikini—cute, string back, tiny coverage!
What do you love the most about Wicked Weasel/Microminimus bikinis?
There are many different minimalist bikini brands—especially now—but what sets WW and MM apart as brands is the community.
What other bikini brand has people from all over the world flying to meetups, just to meet other people who wear the same bikinis? And what company gets involved like this to feature wearers as a part of the community? It’s that personal touch that really makes the WW/MM family of brands that much better than the rest.
Do you have a favorite bikini style?
The smaller, the better! I have a few “bigger” thongs for places where thongs aren’t allowed, but usually you can find me on most beaches in a 457 or other string back, micro front coverage bikini.
I’m a bit of a nudist, so a bikini of any size is actually more coverage than I sometimes have. I’ve also gotten into the XXS and micro tops lately…
I strongly recommend everyone try a 457 bottom at least once!!! They’re super sexy, and you might find you become addicted, like me! Trust me, you’ll fit. However, for your first 457, I’d generally recommend going up one size—fit is more important for a 457 than other bottoms, and one size up usually solves any issues.
How do you unwind after a long day?
During quarantine, I force myself to get away from screens! I walk my dog with my husband and try to get a workout in the home gym we built during COVID. That often turns into dinner in bed and maybe some late-night Microminimus gallery scrolling to see the new sets!
If you could vacation anywhere, where would you go and what would you do?
I would take my Microminimus towel and go lie on the brilliant marble-sanded beaches of San Traginus V, inhaling the heady sea vapors… but other places I’d love to go to include Brazil to dance in my WWs during Carnival; the Greek islands to laze about all day on a yacht; Spain to drive around and see and eat everything I possibly could… oh, and I hope there are some welcoming smiles for me if I make it out to a little town just south of Gold Coast, Australia...
How did you become a Microminimus Contributor?
Blame it on my husband. He bought me my first minimal swimsuits, and I kept coming back. It was quite a few years ago on the first trip I took with my now husband. We went to Punta Cana, and he had bought me a number of thong bikinis of various styles.
Up until that point, I thought the height of sexy was a full coverage Victoria’s Secret bikini. I wouldn’t become a nudist for another year, and I was a bit terrified putting on what is now the largest bikini I own: my red clip Brazilian bottom WWs (see Maho Throwback).
We went for a walk on the beach, and as we crossed into the next property, my husband pointed out a topless woman in a tiny string bottom. “See? Other women are wearing smaller thongs.” As we got closer, he chuckled and said, “That’s Weaselchen.”
I knew of Microminimus then, but it would be quite a few years before I posted, so I had no idea who she was at the time other than a contributor. We had a quick conversation—they were leaving the next day or I’m sure we would have met again—and after that, I turned to my husband and said, “I think I’ll be okay wearing smaller bikinis now.” The Brazilian bottom went back in the suitcase and for the rest of the trip I wore mostly string backs!
What are your favorite parts of sharing photos with the Microminimus bikini community?
First and foremost, I appreciate collaborating with my husband on planning, shooting, editing, and posting sets. He’s a talented photographer and I’m super excited that I will have all these amazing photos of myself when I’m old and gray— and maybe something to remind my grandkids that their old granny was pretty cool in her day.
But, I also do enjoy sharing the photos with the community. The truth is, even though I wear small bikinis on the beach, when I’m on the beach, I just like to relax and gawkers make me feel uncomfortable. But on Microminimus, I’m able to appreciate being seen more, because that’s the point!
Finally, what other place can you meet so many interesting members and contributors? I’ve met all sorts of people from entrepreneurs to government officials; soccer moms to professional/Olympic athletes; adult actresses to pious churchgoers… and that’s just contributors! Where else on Earth could you meet such a diverse group of amazing people?
What’s some advice you’d like to pass along to other people interested in becoming a contributor?
First of all, if you’ve been thinking about it, definitely give it a try…but only if it’s because YOU want to, within the limits you’re comfortable with. You’re the one putting yourself out there, so do it on your terms. If you want to show your face, show your face. If you don’t, don’t.
“What if my family/job finds out?” is usually the biggest reason I’ve heard for why women don’t want to contribute, and that’s a very valid concern, which is why picking your limits is so critical. And I know it’s a bit of wishful thinking, but it’s 2021: screw any misogynist who wants to shame you for taking photos of yourself in—or out—of a bikini.
What’s one thing your gallery subscribers might not know about you?
I grew up in rural America, and didn’t see the ocean until I was 17! Now, I can’t imagine more than a few months going by without a trip to the beach, and I hope to move closer to one someday.
Also, I have fairly severe body dysmorphia and struggle with body image issues. Wearing Wicked Weasels and becoming a nudist has helped me substantially with this! Every. Body. Is. Beautiful!
